The Story So Far

Worth

The word is: Worth

I've been trying to find the right words to tell a friend of mine that she doesn't have to settle. It's always easier coming from this side when you're not the one wanting but I wanted desperately for her to believe in better. I just didn't know what the words were.

I started reading 'a beautiful composition of broken' by r.h. Sin a couple of days back and came across these lines:

Know your worth and never communicate, reply or respond to anyone who can’t afford to speak to you or with you.
— r.h. Sin, cost of communication from a beautiful composition of broken

The word is: worth.

Now, more than ever, we're wondering if we should text back, call back, try again, try even more but if the person you're pouring your time and effort into isn't doing the same, why should you? It's the same for everyone from tinder dates to family, friends, that new job and even, co-workers.

What are your moments worth? Your body worth? Your words worth?

I'm guilty of spending too much on people and things that don't match up to the value I've placed on them. The result is one we all know so well - disappointment and a pint of ice-cream. This isn't how I want it to be. So I'll stop calling, waiting, writing letters, sending postcards. I'll stop trying, asking, spending on you.

There is more to value here and if you don't see it, then you're just not worth it.
