The Story So Far

December Lessons for Learning

1. It's not the end. Good things will happen. Bad things will happen. Good things will happen all over again.

2. Some Sundays are meant to be spent doing nothing except watching your cats sleep with a smile on their faces and their butts falling off their beds. Be okay with time spent recovering. Let your mind and yourself rest. You need this.

3. If choosing self-love means letting someone else down, even if it's the person you love, make your decision and make your peace with it.

4. Love isn't all about compromising, it's about seeking understanding. Mark Manson gathers relationship advice from 1,500 people and explains it more eloquently in this post.

5. Do not blame others for the choices you have the power to make.

6. You are not responsible for how someone feels about your response. That doesn't mean tact should not be employed when speaking your heart and your mind.

7. There are always parts of us inside that hurt. Deal with your demons. See a therapist. Try hypnotherapy. Talk about it. Whatever it takes to help you be better.

8. You are entitled to your opinion. This applies to everyone else too. The latter is equally important to remember.

9. "Your life is your life. Do not be clubbed into dank submission." - Bukowski

10. Own your stories.

11. Wake up early and write when the world is quiet.

12. Sometimes, Lynette, it's okay to not question everything and just be happy, for yourself and for them.

13. If there is unease, don't be afraid to understand where it stems from. Be more aware of your thoughts and its paths.

14. "Opening yourself up to the world, to new experiences, themes and inputs, will push you to a new place. And that push? That's growing." Hugh Macleod

15. "You will be fine. Feeling unsure and lost is part of your path. Don't avoid it. See what those feelings are showing you and use it. Take a deep breath. You will be okay. Even if you don't feel okay all the time." - Louis CK

16. There will always, always be new things to learn.
